How we work

Explained first, and only what you need

Pembridge Dental is a long-established private practice, at 192 Campden Hill Road since October 2022 and looking after Notting Hill since 1986. As a private practice we can give each appointment the time it needs.

Patients mention the same things in their Google reviews: things are explained clearly before anything happens, nervous patients are looked after, and the advice is honest, even when that means doing less.

After your first visit you can book check-ups and hygiene visits online. If something hurts before then, see emergency appointments.

For nervous patients

Nervous about the dentist?

You are far from alone, and you do not need to explain why. Some people had a painful visit as a child, some hate the sounds or the feeling of not being in control, and some have put it off for years and feel embarrassed. None of that will surprise us, and nobody here will judge the state of your teeth.

Being looked after when nervous is something patients mention in their Google reviews. One wrote that the team are "expert at dealing with slightly nervous patients of which I am one!"

What we do to help

  • Tell us when you book or when you arrive, so the dentist knows before you sit down.
  • Your first visit can be a talk and a look, with nothing done on the day unless you want it.
  • We explain each step before we do it, in plain words, and tell you what you will feel.
  • Agree a signal, such as raising a hand, and we stop straight away when you use it.
  • We numb the area properly and check it is numb before starting, and we can take breaks.

IV sedation, for treatment

For very nervous patients, IV sedation (a sedative given through a small needle in the hand or arm) can help you feel calm and relaxed while treatment is carried out. A visiting sedation team is booked in to give it on the day of your treatment. It is listed on our fee guide at £500. We talk it through at a consultation first, including whether it is suitable for you and what to arrange for the day, such as someone to take you home.

Sedation is not needed for most check-ups and cleans. Many nervous patients find that being told what is happening, and knowing they can stop, is enough.

"Took my 16 year old, after having seen several dentists including at Harley Street. Excellent care from their team - reception to the assistant to the dentist Dr. Ardalan. Cannot recommend their straightforward communication, accessibility and empathy."

"Do great work, listen to you and collaborate on what the best options are while explaining it all and pros/cons of different choices... Also saved me money by saying don't bother doing x do y it's not worth it."

New patient questions

How do I register with a private dentist in Notting Hill?

There is no waiting list or registration form to fill in first. Book a new patient exam online, choose a time, and we take your details when you arrive. The exam is £120. From then on you are a Pembridge Dental patient and can book check-ups and hygiene visits whenever you need them.

How much is the first appointment?

Our new patient offer is £79: a full exam and consultation with Dr Ardalan, two X-rays and an intraoral 3D scan in one visit. Without the offer, the new patient exam is £120. If you need more X-rays they are £25 each, or £95 for a full-mouth X-ray, and we always tell you before taking them. Children's new patient exams are £80.

How long does a new patient exam take?

A new patient exam takes longer than a routine check-up because we start from scratch: your history, a full look at your teeth and gums, and time to talk. We tell you how long to allow when you book, and there is time for your questions.

I am nervous about the dentist. What should I do?

Tell us when you book or when you arrive. Nervous patients are common, and we go at your pace: we explain each step before we do it, and you can ask us to stop at any time. If you are very nervous about treatment, tell us at your first visit and we will talk through the options with you.

Do you take NHS patients?

Pembridge Dental is a private practice only, so we do not provide NHS treatment. Our private fees are on the fee guide, and membership plans can spread the cost of check-ups and hygiene visits into a monthly payment.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Bring a list of any medicines you take and any medical conditions, and the name of your previous dentist if you have one. If you have recent X-rays from another practice, let us know, as they can sometimes be sent across.

See all our treatments, or meet the team first.
