Facial aesthetics

A consultation first, every time

Facial aesthetics at Pembridge Dental always start with a conversation. Dr Ardalan looks at your face as a whole, listens to what you would like to change and goes through your medical history. If a treatment is not right for you, or would not give the result you are hoping for, he will tell you.

You see the cost in writing before anything is booked, and there is no pressure to decide on the day.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are gels injected under the skin to restore volume or soften lines. At Pembridge Dental they are used for the lips, the cheeks, the folds that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth and the lines at the corners of the mouth. The aim is a result in proportion with the rest of your face.

Fillers are not permanent. The body breaks them down gradually, so the effect fades over time.

Anti-wrinkle consultations

Frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet can be talked through at an anti-wrinkle consultation. Some treatments for these concerns use a prescription-only medicine, which by law can only be prescribed after a face-to-face consultation. Whether it is suitable for you is decided then, not in advance.

Alongside your dental care

Many patients pair facial aesthetics with cosmetic dental work, such as teeth whitening, composite bonding or veneers. If you clench or grind your teeth, see our page on teeth grinding. Every price is on our fee guide.

Who facial aesthetics suit, and who they do not

It suits you if

  • You would like to soften lines around the mouth, such as the folds from nose to mouth or the lines at the corners of the mouth.
  • You would like more definition or volume in your lips or cheeks, in proportion with the rest of your face.
  • You are bothered by frown lines, forehead lines or crow's feet and would like to talk through the options.
  • You want treatment from a dentist who knows the anatomy of the face and mouth in detail.

It may not suit you if

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have an infection, cold sore or inflamed skin in the area to be treated.
  • You have certain medical conditions or take medicines that make treatment unsafe. We go through your medical history at the consultation.
  • You are under 18.
  • You are looking for a change that treatment cannot give. We say so at the consultation, and you are never pressed to go ahead.

What happens, step by step

  1. Step 1: Consultation

We talk about what you would like to change, look at your face and skin, and go through your medical history. Whether a treatment suits you is decided here, not before.

  2. Step 2: Your plan and the cost

If treatment is right for you, we explain what is involved, the possible side effects and the full cost before you decide. You can take time to think it over.

  3. Step 3: Treatment

Treatment is carried out in the practice by Dr Ardalan. Most appointments are short, and you can usually go back to your day afterwards.

  4. Step 4: Review

We see you again to check how the area has settled and that you are happy, and advise on aftercare.

Results and aftercare

What to expect

The aim is a natural look that still feels like you. How much difference treatment makes, and how long it lasts, varies from person to person; we tell you honestly what is realistic at the consultation.

How long it lasts

Dermal fillers are not permanent. The body gradually breaks them down, so the effect fades over months, and some people choose to top up.

Aftercare

Avoid touching or pressing the treated area, heavy exercise and very hot rooms for the rest of the day. We give you written aftercare and a number to call.

Facial Aesthetics: your questions

Still have a question?

Call reception on 020 7727 3976, Monday to Friday. We are happy to talk it through before you book.

Who carries out facial aesthetics at Pembridge Dental?

Facial aesthetics at Pembridge Dental are carried out by Dr Ardalan Eghtedar, the principal dentist, who is registered with the General Dental Council (GDC 250741). Every treatment starts with a consultation with him.

How much do dermal fillers cost?

Lip filler at Pembridge Dental is £295, treatment for the folds from nose to mouth is £300 and for the lines at the corners of the mouth £250. Cheek filler starts from £300. You get the full cost before treatment.

Can you help with frown lines and forehead lines?

Frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet can be discussed at an anti-wrinkle consultation. Some treatments for these lines use a prescription-only medicine, so whether one is suitable for you is decided face to face, after we have gone through your medical history. Dr Ardalan carries out the consultation, prescribes where appropriate and gives the treatment himself.

Does treatment hurt?

Most people describe a sharp scratch and some pressure. Many dermal fillers contain a local anaesthetic, and we can numb the area first. Tenderness afterwards is common and usually settles within a few days.

Is there any downtime?

Most people go back to work or their day straight after treatment. Swelling, redness or bruising can show for a few days, so if you have an important event, leave a couple of weeks between treatment and the date.

Why have facial aesthetics with a dentist?

Dentists train in the anatomy of the face, mouth and jaw, and treat patients in a clinical setting with medical history checks and emergency procedures in place. At Pembridge Dental you see the same dentist for the consultation, the treatment and the review.
